Chapter 3: Divorce You
The first time Meng Weiyu met Shen Zhoudu was at an ordinary banquet for wealthy people. He was coaxing a girl into a good mood, while Shen Zhoudu was on the other side, accepting praise from a group of aunties and uncles whose hair looked gray and white. A banquet hall that should have been filled with drunken indulgence and luxury had become elegant and extraordinary because of Shen Zhoudu’s presence.
Shen Zhoudu stood among them, displaying a maturity far beyond his age.
He did not look like he was voluntarily dealing with those people, but if he had to do these things, he did not seem to mind either.
Hmph.
Meng Weiyu saw two annoying figures in him at the same time.
Perhaps Meng Weiyu had stared at him for too long, because Shen Zhoudu sensed it. He turned his head and looked toward a corner of the banquet with a completely different atmosphere.
Meng Weiyu moved faster than him and had already looked away.
When Meng Weiyu felt that his disguise was absolutely perfect and turned his gaze back again, he met Shen Zhoudu’s eyes without warning.
He was staring fixedly at him.
Even when Meng Weiyu threatened him with a cold smile, Shen Zhoudu still did not look away. Perhaps in his mind, he was the one who had caught someone secretly looking at him, so he had no intention of backing down guiltily.
Shen Zhoudu had the elegant, handsome features of an Asian man, but he had a pair of pale blue eyes. It was said that one of his grandparents was German, and this was an atavistic inheritance. He wore glasses, seemingly to reduce the presence of his eyes, but because of the metal frames, once one noticed his eyes, they made him appear even colder. They were impossible to ignore.
This was definitely provocation!
Meng Weiyu was furious.
It was a small matter, but unfortunately, as a young master who always got whatever he wanted, Meng Weiyu could not swallow this insult.
The indignation from back then had long since been completely wiped away by shock.
Meng Weiyu’s mouth hung open, his soul nearly leaving his body.
All his thoughts emptied, leaving only a pair of eyes that could still move.
The hand on his back loosened slightly. Shen Zhoudu pulled away from him and looked at Meng Weiyu’s face. His mouth opened slightly, as if he wanted to say something, but not a single word came out.
For a while, the atmosphere at the scene was extremely strange.
“Mr. Meng’s family member, please come out for a moment,” the doctor called from the doorway.
“Alright.” Hearing the call, Shen Zhoudu instinctively stood up. Before leaving, he did not forget to tell Meng Weiyu, “I’ll be back soon.”
Ning Wu had been sitting silently on the side for a long time. Now, he could finally smile and greet him. “Little Du, what a touching scene.”
“Thank you for taking care of him.” Shen Zhoudu patted Ning Wu on the shoulder, then left the ward.
Watching Shen Zhoudu leave, Ning Wu kept the smile on his face. As he turned to look at Meng Weiyu, he said in a smug tone, “See? I told you it was definitely someone you knew.”
His eyes turned over, and Meng Weiyu startled him.
Meng Weiyu still had that terrified expression with his eyes wide open. At the same time, his whole body was pressed completely against the headboard of the bed.
Ning Wu had never seen such a frightening expression on his face before. Panicking, he hurriedly stood up and reached out toward him, wanting to wake him up. He was even worried that Meng Weiyu might be feeling unwell.
“Does something hurt? Do you want me to call the doctor?”
“N-N-N-Ning… Ning Wu…” Meng Weiyu’s brain had short-circuited.
“Yes, I’m Ning Wu.” Ning Wu wanted to hug him.
“T-T-T-That… person is, is, is-is-is Shen Zhoudu.” Meng Weiyu’s finger trembled as he pointed toward the door.
“It’s Shen Zhoudu.” Ning Wu nodded, confirming what his eyes had seen.
“M-M-My marriage partner is… Shen Zhoudu?” Meng Weiyu could not believe this fact. Even his voice was trembling.
“Who else would it be?” Ning Wu could not think of a second person.
Meng Weiyu’s legs suddenly straightened.
Ning Wu was startled.
Meng Weiyu quickly got out of bed. He did not even put on shoes. He walked straight to the window, opened it, and prepared to step onto it with one foot.
“Xiao Yu! Xiao Yu!” Ning Wu was so frightened that he pounced over and hugged his waist.
“Let go of me. This must be a nightmare.” Meng Weiyu had lost all will to live.
“No, what are you doing?” Ning Wu did not understand.
Hearing this, Meng Weiyu gritted his teeth and turned his head. Word by word, he forced out, “Am I insane? How could I possibly marry Shen Zhoudu?”
“It’s true. I even have your wedding photos… Holy shit, Xiao Yu, don’t jump. At worst, I won’t say anything anymore!”
This was the first floor.
Meng Weiyu immediately climbed over the window. His right hand and half his face were still wrapped in bandages. He suddenly turned around to look at Ning Wu.
Ning Wu also wanted to climb out the window after him.
With a cold expression, Meng Weiyu shut the window, blocking Ning Wu’s movement.
“Even if I get hit by a car again, I could never marry Shen Zhoudu.” After leaving those words behind, Meng Weiyu turned and limped away.
Behind him, Ning Wu opened the window and still refused to give up, telling him, “It’s true!”
Meng Weiyu did not even look back. He waved his fist at him.
Although he had escaped his annoying friend and the incomprehensible source of his troubles, Meng Weiyu had nowhere to go for the time being. His body had not recovered, so he did not dare recklessly leave the hospital. Besides, even if he left the hospital, he did not know where he should go.
Fortunately, hospitals had plenty of chairs.
Meng Weiyu, who was not wearing shoes, sat on the edge of a chair, propping up his chin as he thought hard.
No matter how he thought about it, he could not figure out why he would marry Shen Zhoudu.
First, he did not like men.
Second, he did not like Shen Zhoudu.
Lastly, he did not trust marriage.
Sitting on a chair surrounded by green leaves, Meng Weiyu wore a blue-and-white hospital gown. Together with his dyed hair, which looked like cotton candy, he became the only flower in the area.
He was truly beautiful, but because he was so conflicted, the expression on his face was once hideous. Although passersby were curious, not a single person dared to approach him.
“So this must be a parallel universe.” Meng Weiyu came up with a reasonable answer.
“You’re so rude. Is liking me really that absurd?” A cold voice came from Meng Weiyu’s side.
Meng Weiyu suddenly turned his head. The leaves, which were already very close to his hair, were brushed by his strands. The green expanse trembled along with the brilliant sunlight being stirred between them.
Shen Zhoudu saw his face. Although he could only see half of it now, although his hair was a mess, and although he was not even wearing shoes, Shen Zhoudu’s pupils still subconsciously widened slightly. His pale blue eyes darkened because of the light, revealing a kind of desire and possessiveness. He could always quickly detect the changes in his own emotions, so before someone else could discover his obsession, he turned his face away.
“Heh.” Meng Weiyu saw his movement and pulled the corner of his mouth into a stiff smile. What exactly did this person have against him? Every time Shen Zhoudu saw him, he had to turn his head away with an unhappy expression.
“You forgot to wear shoes.” Shen Zhoudu held a pair of hospital-provided slippers and walked toward Meng Weiyu.
Meng Weiyu watched him warily, his body unconsciously leaning backward.
“Young Master Meng, please use these shoes.” Shen Zhoudu deliberately bowed and placed the slippers beside Meng Weiyu’s feet.
He had merely spoken normally, but for some reason, Meng Weiyu felt that he was being sarcastic, so he looked at him unhappily.
Ning Wu was lying, right?
Meeting Meng Weiyu’s gaze, Shen Zhoudu put his other hand into his pocket. Then he took out a ring and held it in front of him.
“You also forgot to take this.”
“Hiss.” Only when he stretched out his hand did Meng Weiyu realize that on the ring finger of Shen Zhoudu’s left hand, there was clearly an identical ring.
Meng Weiyu placed his hand on the chair and racked his brain, not knowing how to face the current situation.
“You don’t want it?” Shen Zhoudu asked him, his eyes dimming slightly.
“It’s not that I don’t want it, but right now I have a situation. The most direct thing is, look, my whole hand is wrapped up, so…” Meng Weiyu tried every possible excuse, completely ignoring the fact that it was his right hand wrapped in bandages, not the left hand that wore the ring.
“I understand.” Shen Zhoudu hooked his finger and put Meng Weiyu’s ring onto his own ring finger as well.
Meng Weiyu was already the type who easily got distracted. His eyes could not help following Shen Zhoudu’s movements. He noticed that Shen Zhoudu’s fingers were long and delicate. The ring that originally belonged to him was actually a little loose when worn on Shen Zhoudu’s finger.
Subconsciously, he pinched his own finger with his nail.
He was so angry!
“May I sit down?” Shen Zhoudu asked Meng Weiyu, distant and polite.
Because of this, Meng Weiyu lowered his guard and nodded.
Shen Zhoudu almost instinctively sat down beside Meng Weiyu, but when he saw Meng Weiyu awkwardly shifting his backside to the side, he silently moved his feet and sat down on the other end of the chair.
“Are you uncomfortable anywhere else?” Shen Zhoudu naturally turned his head to look at him, concerned about his condition.
“I’m actually okay, it’s just…” Meng Weiyu’s eyes flickered.
“Amnesia?” Shen Zhoudu’s next sentence became almost like a mutter to himself. “Something like this… I almost thought you were deliberately using this kind of excuse to deceive me.”
“Hey.” Meng Weiyu naturally made a dissatisfied sound. One hand reached behind Shen Zhoudu’s back, wanting to make a threatening pose.
Shen Zhoudu’s body leaned slightly forward, letting Meng Weiyu’s hand fall before sitting back down again. With that small movement, it looked as if Meng Weiyu’s hand had been placed behind him, wrapping around him.
Meng Weiyu was silent for a moment. Then he pretended to cry out, “Pain, pain, pain.”
Shen Zhoudu was startled and hurriedly straightened his body.
Meng Weiyu deliberately and carefully took back his hand.
“I understand the situation now. I asked the doctor and also got your examination report.” Shen Zhoudu turned his body and solemnly explained the situation to him.
The corner of Meng Weiyu’s mouth twitched again. It was a good thing he did not need to trouble himself explaining, but exactly how little did this person trust him?
Shen Zhoudu told him seriously, “Although you don’t remember, you and I have already been married for five years.”
“That kind of thing is really impossible.” Meng Weiyu refused to acknowledge such an absurd fact.
“It’s true.” Shen Zhoudu was unsmiling.
“No matter how I think about it, it’s impossible, because I hate you.” Meng Weiyu opened his mouth and hurt him without thinking.
Shen Zhoudu froze.
“I don’t like men, and I wouldn’t want to get married…” Meng Weiyu’s voice gradually weakened. It was not because his conscience had finally awakened, but because he noticed a trace of killing intent rising in Shen Zhoudu’s eyes. As for whether Shen Zhoudu wanted to kill him or kill himself, Meng Weiyu could not tell.
“That’s how it is. So if we’re married, then I request a divorce,” Meng Weiyu said.
Shen Zhoudu bit his lower lip. In the end, he forced out each word one by one and told him:
“Can’t. Be. Done!”
Shocked by his imposing manner, Meng Weiyu narrowed his eyes. Instead, his rebellious spirit was stirred up.
How could it not be done?
Today, he would dissolve this muddled marriage relationship!
